BUILDING A SAFE ENVIRONMENT

The first and major ecosystem that can be created on a land is a water spot, pond, lake, etc. that will attract vegetal and animal life, maintain a stable atmosphere, reflect sunrays to increase exposure, and of course be a reserve of useful quality water for fertilizing.

As specific plants develop on water shores, it is then profitable to create a vegetal architecture, with taller tree species protecting smaller ones, then shrubs, then ground cultures which may grow best with less direct sun, or less wind, or less exposure of any kind.

This can be done without much science or expense, it remains hard work to dig and secure the ground hole, with some planning to first determine the best possible spot according to the landscape specifics, shape and orientation.. But after the first big rain you’ll be able to appreciate the result of your effort!

All this takes time and observation, to learn how different forms of life inter-react and to keep track of future developments. The small pond pictured here is now the home of a colony of small amphibians, which came naturally and found all what they need to settle.. The whole ecosystem is auto-regulating and never loses too much water, even on dry summers.
